The vision

Relationship science, brought into everyday life.

Most relationship advice lives in silos. Clinical knowledge stays in therapy rooms. Research stays in journals. Dating advice often ignores psychology. Technology optimizes matching but rarely helps people build better relationships.

The Marshi Institute exists to connect those worlds.

The long-term vision is a modern relationship company spanning education, software, assessments, media, clinician tools, workshops, and eventually a broader couples-focused ecosystem.

What I bring to the table

  • Clinical perspective: couples-focused training, relational thinking, and an understanding of attachment and relationship patterns.
  • Product development: turning relationship questions into interactive tools and structured learning experiences.
  • Business & finance: connecting a creative vision to practical business thinking.
  • Technology: managing the technology behind specialist investment publications and building digital relationship tools.
  • Subscription management: hands-on experience supporting a paid publishing business.
  • Writing & synthesis: connecting ideas across psychology, business, and technology and making them useful.

Clinical insight.
Entrepreneurial ambition.
Work already in motion.

I’m Alexander Marshi, founder of The Marshi Institute and a California Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I bring a multidisciplinary background in clinical mental health, business and finance, technology, writing, and product development to one clear ambition: building a lasting company that helps people create better relationships.

My strength is connecting disciplines and turning ideas into things people can use. My couples-focused training includes Gottman Level 2 and experience with Emotionally Focused Therapy concepts and relational approaches. Alongside that clinical foundation, I bring the business perspective and technical creativity to develop products, shape a brand, and build beyond the therapy room.

I manage technology and subscriptions for specialist investment publications, bringing hands-on experience supporting a paid publishing business. Alongside my clinical training and relationship tools, that experience informs how I build useful products and keep them running.

The Marshi Institute is the foundation for something bigger: an institute spanning education, software, assessments, media, and clinician resources. I’m building toward a body of work, a durable business, and an institution with the reach to make relationship education part of everyday life.

What I’ve already put in motion

  • Love on Purpose: developed a structured relationship-readiness experience that helps people examine what matters before a serious partnership. Explore the project →
  • Choose Better: developed an interactive relationship decision tool focused on compatibility, patterns, and partner selection. Explore the project →
  • Specialist investment publications: manage the technology and subscriptions that support a paid publishing business.
  • The Marshi Institute: brought those projects together under a public platform with a clear direction for relationship tools, education, media, and clinician resources.
  • A couples-focused clinical foundation: California AMFT registration and Gottman Level 2 training, alongside EFT-informed relational approaches.

The vision is ambitious. The foundation is already taking shape. The right partnership can take it much further.

Seeking complementary collaborators

Bring your strengths.
Let’s build something that lasts.

I’m looking for ambitious collaborators who care deeply about relationships and see the possibility of building a substantial company around better relationship education, tools, and care.

My strongest contributions are connecting clinical ideas, business thinking, technology, writing, and product development. I’m seeking people whose strengths complement mine: expertise that goes deeper where my experience is less developed, and capabilities that make the whole venture stronger.

“A great partnership gives each of us room to do our best work—and makes possible what neither of us could build alone.”

Strengths that would expand what we can do

  • Deeper couples-clinical experience, advanced training, or a distinct therapeutic specialty
  • Research, psychometrics, and evaluating whether educational tools deliver meaningful results
  • Teaching, workshop facilitation, and curriculum development
  • Audience growth, distribution, sales, and strategic partnerships
  • Operations and the systems that help a growing business run consistently
  • Specialist engineering or design that takes promising digital tools to the next level

The kind of partnership I value

  • Shared ambition to build a durable business and useful work
  • Sound judgment, emotional maturity, and dependable follow-through
  • Intellectual curiosity and the confidence to improve an idea
  • Honest conversation about strengths, limits, and what each of us needs
  • Respect for relationship science and the people we hope to serve
  • Willingness to create, learn, and take ownership together

Clinicians—including AMFTs, LMFTs, psychologists, and LPCCs with a couples focus—are especially welcome. So are researchers, educators, operators, and technical or creative partners with something complementary to contribute. You don’t need every strength on this list. One meaningful contribution is a good place to begin.
